このコンテンツについて
Tim Burton's directorial debut, Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985), is finally being added to the Criterion Collection[1]. This marks the first time a Tim Burton film has been included in the prestigious collection[1]. The new release will feature a 4K digital restoration of the film, supervised and approved by Burton himself, along with multiple surround sound audio tracks[1].
The Criterion Collection edition will also include a wealth of bonus features, such as audio commentaries by Burton, co-writer Paul Reubens (who starred as Pee-wee Herman), and composer Danny Elfman[1]. Additional content includes new interviews with Burton and actor-filmmaker Richard Ayoade, as well as interviews with co-writer Michael Varhol, editor Billy Weber, production designer David L. Snyder, and producer Richard Abramson[1]. An interview from 2005 with Paul Reubens, excerpts from a fortieth-anniversary screening, deleted scenes, and the original trailer are also part of the package[1].
The film, which features the iconic character Pee-wee Herman, is noted for establishing Burton's distinctive visual style and off-kilter tone[1]. The Blu-ray and 4K + Blu-ray editions are available for pre-order and are set to be released on December 16, 2025[1].
