このコンテンツについて

In this two-part adventure, Mark talks with Brian E. Pearson, priest, musician, and author, for a deep and wide-ranging conversation about vocation, soul, and joy. Brian reflects on his years of ministry in the Anglican Church of Canada, including his time as rector of St. Stephen’s in Calgary—and the moment that nearly cost him his calling when he was warned by his bishop, “Do this again and you will be fired,” after officiating a marriage for a trans parishioner. Our journey takes us through his parallel passion for music and the near-miss of a professional career, his love of writing, and his latest book, Talking to Trees: A Journey into Soul. We explore the transformative impact of his work with the Animas Valley Institute, founded by Bill Plotkin, and how that opened him to a deeper exploration of the human soul. Along the way, Brian and I wrestle with the question of the divine—what it means to us, how we encounter it, and how it shapes our lives. And we discover the many ways Brian continues to live out his joy: in faith, in music, in nature, and in the calling to speak honestly about love that includes us all. This is a conversation about risk, resilience, and rediscovering the soul’s song—a reminder that radical love is not only possible, but necessary.
