Tammy Pawloski (Ph.D. University of South Carolina) is Professor of Education and Director of the Center of Excellence to Prepare Teachers of Children of Poverty at Francis Marion University. She has spent the last twenty-five years of her career using educational neuroscience to inform her work in schools across the nation that is centered on understanding why learners struggle and how to strategically change experiences in ways that lead to powerful brain change. Pawloski has led more than 3000 professional learning events and is a noted expert because of her breadth of knowledge, however what resonates most with teachers and school leaders is her ability to deliver an uncommon combination of actionable research and examples for practice that engage, empower, and challenge. The mission of the Center of Excellence to Prepare Teachers of Children of Poverty is to identify barriers that stand in the way of school and life success and to support educators as they seek to mitigate those barriers. To that end, Center programming includes bimonthly webinars, author-led book studies, a monthly family & community engagement series, networking opportunities for like-role leaders, graduate coursework along with a new master’s degree that focuses on teaching children of poverty, and support for teachers through our professional organization.· Teaching Children of Poverty Scholars (TCOPS) Professional Organization· LETRS Science of Reading Professional Study Access· Webinar Series (Live & Free!)· IHE Teacher Prep Collaborative (Live & Free!)· Author-Led Book Studies (Live & Free!)· Research Consortia (Live & Free!)· Center Funded IHE Research Projects· Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Series Two Special September OpportunitiesReviews of our August 27 webinar that featured SC’s own National Secondary Principal of the Year Dr. Tracie Anderson Swilley (Dream Big, No Excuses, & No Limit Mindset) were tremendous and we are pleased to announce that, as our thank you for your support of the Center, we are offering free recording access through midnight Monday, September 8.
