When Moses encountered God on the mountain, he made one decision that changed his life forever: he turned aside. By turning aside, he saw the burning bush and the Lord's calling that later changed the course of history for the children of Israel. This 'turning aside' was a turning of Moses' old life and into God's will. In the same way when we are dying to self it is important that we 'turn aside' from the old life in order to come into the new creation. Without turning aside, we risk losing out on what God has for us and an opportunity to experience all of God.
