Everton threw away a two goal lead against an already relegated Ipswich Town side to be held to a frustrating 2-2 draw in Goodison Park’s penultimate fixture. With a series of spectacular displays in the stands courtesy of fan group the 1878s, the two sides took to the pitch with a ticker tape welcome and the party atmosphere looked like continuing for the hosts. Beto headed David Moyes’ side ahead on 26 minutes and nine minutes later, Dwight McNeil doubled their lead with a strike that left visiting keeper Alex Palmer rooted to the spot. However, an incredible, swerving drive from Julio Enciso four minutes before the interval handed the Suffolk side a lifeline and they shocked the Blues with a headed back post equaliser from substitute George Hirst 11 minutes from the end to earn a share of the spoils.
