Widow Anita Graber is five months pregnant when her brother, Amos, persuades her to return from Ohio to her childhood home to have her baby. Henderson's Graber is endearing and still adjusting to the death of her beloved husband when she boards the Greyhound bus east. Her domineering brother shocks her when he insists that she needs to find a husband. Sumptuous descriptions of the countryside, food, and men enthusiastically describing a new buggy will put listeners on the scene. The fascinating mix of English and Pennsylvania Dutch words such as 'Englisher' (non-Amish) and 'wunderbar' adds to the unique atmosphere.
