With the kingdom divided, the human-changeling conflict reaches explosive heights in this epic culmination of the Rise of the Firebird duology as Fionna and Helio’s forbidden love threatens the political powers of Irska—igniting the flames of revolution amid betrayal, broken alliances, and a nation on the brink of war.

In the midst of a revolution between humans and changelings, Fionna is freed after months in captivity by the changeling Rebels. She returns to the Irskan palace not as a servant but as a spy for a rebellion she has secretly joined. Now it’s imperative that she hide her connection to Helio, the Rebel leader and her former enemy, especially since their love has awakened his ancient magic as the destined Firebird.

Determined to glean information under the guise of loyalty, Fionna hears the deadly decree of the brutal King of Irska. Succession to his throne depends on which of his princely sons captures Helio and condemns him to a gruesome fate. Separated from the man she loves, and connected only by her mysterious ability to venture through dreams, Fionna fears that even her warnings may not be enough to protect him—or herself.

But as the final stages of a long-standing war loom, Fionna and Helio must find their way back to each other to bring peace. Forbidden love and the flames of the Firebird are their only hope.
