Wolf Valley: Grumps

I hate going to the doctors, but that’s not my problem right now. It’s that the new physician in town won’t stop trying to make me his. Alexi. I hate doctors. Hate everything about going to see them. The cold rooms, the stern faces, the way they act like they know your whole life because of a clipboard. So when I got sick, I put it off as long as humanly possible, but my fever is getting worse, so I bite the bullet and drag my miserable butt into Wolf Valley Medical. I’m prepared for a shot or some vile-tasting medicine. What I wasn’t prepared for was Dr. Hugh Mercer.

I can’t cook, can’t even boil water without setting off the fire alarm, and trust me, I’ve tried. That’s actually how I meet my grumpy new neighbor. He comes over to yell at me for waking him up with the fire alarm and embarrasses me in front of the entire building. Now my new plan is to avoid that man like the plague and find some other way to feed myself.

I only needed a place to hide. I didn’t expect the town’s grumpiest Green Beret to decide I was his. Perry I came to Wolf Valley to disappear. So, the last thing I wanted was attention, especially not from the towering, scarred, permanently scowling man who lives in the cabin at the edge of town. Luca Kane. He barely speaks, barely smiles, and somehow always knows when something’s wrong. When my tire blows on a deserted road, he’s there. When a stranger asks too many questions, he’s suddenly at my side. When my past comes creeping too close, he steps in without hesitation.
