Walt Longmire

Wyoming’s Sheriff Walt Longmire is tough but fair, and encounters more than his share of criminals in these superb mysteries.

Walt Longmire, straight-shooting lawman and grieving widower, is just waiting to finish out his term as sheriff of Absaroka County, home to cowboys and an Indian reservation. But serious crimes keep disturbing his peace. In the Longmire stories, Craig Johnson strikes a delicate balance between mystery and social commentary, justice and compassion. With the tough yet tender-hearted Sheriff Longmire at the center, the cast of characters range from tragic to humorous. The rugged, remote Wyoming locale and extreme weather add their own twists to the series.

Audie Award-winning narrator George Guidall performs at the peak of his considerable talent with the denizens of Absaroka County, conveying a full range of emotions and wide cast of characters. He brings the hardheaded Sheriff Longmire to life, and he’s also pitch-perfect as Vic, the foul-mouthed, feisty undersheriff, and as Walt’s deep-voiced, steadfast Native American friend, Henry Standing Bear. To quote AudioFile: “Guidall is a master at finding the subtleties and making the most of monosyllabic teenagers, a smart-mouthed deputy, or the long-suffering Sheriff Walt Longmire.”

Author Craig Johnson is a native of Wyoming. His Walter Longmire mysteries are the basis for the popular binge-watch Netflix series, Longmire.
