In the haunted frontier territories of the Duskland Republic, bounty hunter Elias Vale—known in whispers as The Hollow Gunman—rides beneath dying skies hunting monsters born from something ancient beneath the world itself.

Armed with twin red-plasma six shooters, a brutal scatter gun and the legendary First Fire cavalry blade, Elias walks a frontier drowning in corruption, blood and madness. When a massacre aboard the Black Creek Express unleashes the smiling horrors known as the Grinners, Elias is pulled into a conspiracy tied to a forgotten Republic excavation beneath Red Mercy Canyon.

But the deeper he hunts, the darker the truth becomes.

Ancient gates are opening beneath the frontier.

Dead cavalrymen walk beneath the black moon.

Entire towns fall to horrors known as the Hollowed.

And somewhere below the earth, an ancient intelligence called the Hollow Below remembers Elias Vale by name.

Joined by the monstrous mountain hunter Gideon Crow—the feared Bear of Ash Ridge—Elias wages war across frozen mountains, cursed railways and collapsing frontier settlements against an awakening evil older than mankind itself.
