The Heart Connection

Being a lawyer seemed like a way to do good in the world, but dealing with sketchy clients and questionable deals is draining my idealism. I want out, but I don't know where to go. Dylan seems to have his head screwed on straight, but I can't fall into his arms when I'm not sure about my own future. He's so perfect that it's getting me all tangled up inside.

I was raised poor, and the only thing I had going for me was my looks. My fiancé had the same low opinion of me, which is why he never bothered to give me anything real: not my ring, not the gifts, and not his heart. Graham Dessault is another rich man, and I should stay away from him because I've learned the hard way that all that glitters isn't gold.

I've got no time for men and not much use for them either. I'm busy with my friends, my career, and my family. Some may call it hard-hearted, but I prefer smart. I'm on the verge of closing a deal of a lifetime, and no famous quarterback trying to make his rehab time go by faster is going to convince me to give up being single.

There isn't a better restaurant in town than The Plate, and there isn't a better chef than Brooks Neal, but that doesn't mean he'd make a good partner. My life is falling apart, and so is my career as a food critic now that everyone knows I've slept with Chef Neal. I'm not sure how to right my faltering ship, but I know it's not with him! But he's so hot, and he's kind, and I can't stay away.
