The Exiled Healer

Alexey Mechnikov is a doctor who just wasn't fated to die. Instead, he awoke in the body of a stranger: a young healer who'd run afoul of his own family. He's in a new world, in the nineteenth century, with magic as the foundation of civilization—and not a single privilege to his name: his father had already exiled his body's previous owner, leaving him bereft of everything, including the family name and his estate.

But Alexey has no intention of giving up. His medical knowledge from his previous life is a far more valuable inheritance than any noble coat of arms. After awakening his dormant magical gift and getting his first patient back on her feet, he's going to proceed—step by step—to change his new world's understanding of medicine itself.

The deeper he ventures into local healing practice, however, the more often he runs into the same question: why, exactly, was his body's previous owner exiled in the first place? The answer could be a lot more serious than a simple family squabble.
