The Black Sun Cycle

After his unbelievable encounter in the Paderborn forest near Wewelsburg Castle ("Wewelsburg" from Tendrils In the Dark), Captain John Hartman of the OSS finds himself convalescing in Allied hands. Plagued by nightmares, he must convince his superior officer that Heinrich Himmler is up to something terrible while also trying to understand himself what it all means.

The war is over, and Major John Hartman has left active duty. He and Sergeant Margie Bywater have gotten married and are looking forward to the next stage of life, come what may. But rest doesn't come easily to heroes when Colonel Spivey, formerly of the OSS and now CIA, appears unannounced to recruit the newly married couple into America's new cause—the clandestine fight against Communist oppression. A literal wrong turn finds John Hartman on an idyllic suburban street in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. to find a woman covered in blood running frantically his way.
