After a hobgoblin raid leaves the town of Killic in disarray, fae assassin SJ and her AI sidekick, Dave, know they'll need to devise a strategic counterstrike. But when Cristy—a gnoll left orphaned by the attack—takes things into her own hands, a fierce war suddenly erupts at their doorstep. As the battle rages on, SJ makes another troubling discovery: the level cap around Killic has doubled, allowing overpowered Legionnaires, mighty wyverns, and mysterious assassins to stir up even more trouble in the once-idyllic starter town.

Asterfal is a city of staggering contrasts: high glamour and abject destitution, corrupt politicians and an exploited working class, ostentatious greed and quiet suffering. SJ arrives set to be inaugurated into the city's council as the ambassador of Killic. But she quickly earns a reputation as a benevolent figure and enemy to debauchery and abuse, drawing attention from unsavoury characters and bad actors willing to do anything to maintain control of Asterfal's streets. This attention comes in the form of multiple assassination attempts on SJ's life by the city's criminal elite.
