Wrong Day for a Kill is the first short story in the science fiction series Superhero Stories: The W Series. In the second entry of the W series, we remove the mask and meet Guinn McGovern, the person in the black suit, the soul of the superhero who aims at bringing New York City back to justice. Having superpowers doesn’t really help Guinn in the everyday life: struggling at work while trying to balance crime-fighting activities with a normal social life. What can go wrong on a date night?

This night, W has to wear both hats: The job as a superhero doesn’t allow any day off, even when some truths about Guinn, and about how some of the main characters of the series became who they are, could be waiting around a corner.   

Questions keep ravaging W’s mind today: What’s hiding behind a research center and its chief, a professor well-known and respected in the scientific community? W will have to fight against time to look for the answers in a long run through febrile hours. Until something catches W’s eyes and makes everything shake.  

Something completely unexpected at the end of last episode has brought W back several years through old memories: What happened on the fatal night when W got super powers? How did Guinn McGovern fall in the superhero trap that became life as W? A radically different episode will open more questions and reveal more secrets of W’s past.

W awakes from daydreaming about the past to fall back to square one, where we left our hero at the end of book four. But now W only has a few seconds to escape from the impossible situation fate has constructed. How will W accomplish this mission? What will the superhero attempt to find more answer to questions from a forgotten past? 

The plan to bring W’s nemesis out in the open is set into motion, and the tide of events seems to be turning in our hero’s favor. Until an unexpected development threatens to blow up W’s secret identity. 

Between serious threats to W’s secret identity and safety - from completely unexpected sources - and former allies becoming armed hurdles, W will have to find new ways to strive in the superhero job.  

What is wrong with Guinn? A day at work and an evening therapy session with Jay help W surf through the thoughts and feelings of a superhero on forced vacation. What’s the point of being super if you can’t be a hero? Guinn is also reminded of an unmissable upcoming opportunity to spy into the past, and everyone prepares to take full advantage of it.
