Lance Brody

A small town. Three unexplained disappearances. One sinister evil. Still on the move, Lance Brody finds himself in the tiny town of Ripton’s Grove, living in a neglected farmhouse in which, six years earlier, Mark Benchley murdered his wife and teenage daughter before turning a shotgun on himself. But while the town has accepted the Benchley family's fate, it doesn’t take long for Lance to realize there might be much more to the night the Benchley family died, and the farmhouse itself, than anybody knows. Anybody alive, that is.

A forgotten beach town. A shocking number of suicides. And a mysterious group of beautiful young women with the darkest of secrets. Lance Brody has arrived at Sugar Beach, and within minutes he realizes there’s something terribly wrong. Strangers are saying the oddest things to him, and a sense of sadness seems to linger in the air. He learns of the town’s horrible nickname - Suicide Beach - and meets one of the many girls who spend their days selling cold sodas from coolers on the sidewalks. She doesn’t say much, but in her eyes all Lance can see is fear.

A freak blizzard. A roadside motel. A past that refuses to die. When the snowstorm arrives - the one that no weatherman had forecast - Lance Brody is walking along a desolate road in the middle of nowhere. On the brink of freezing, he finally stumbles across the small roadside motel. Thus starts the longest night of Lance Brody’s life. One full of gruesome deaths, spirits with cryptic messages, whirlwind visions from the past, and the terror-inducing realization that the motel is refusing to let Lance leave until he’s finished what it wants him to.

On what is supposed to be a night of joyous reunion for Lance Brody, instead he witnesses a terrible crime. A human life taken. The murderer does not flee the scene. Does not attempt to fight back. Instead he only offers Lance these words: “The devil in the woods made me do it.” Knowing that the universe has guided him to another town that needs his help, Lance Brody and his group of new companions begin to dig deeper into the evil that has plagued the town’s woods for centuries. 

For Lance and Leah, it was supposed to be a quiet Christmas vacation. But when the spirits start visiting, silenced in death and unable to speak, Lance quickly realizes he’s up against a type of evil he’s never encountered before. To make matters worse, Lance isn’t feeling quite like himself. 

While desperately searching for Lance, Leah finds her newfound psychic abilities pulling her toward the home of an eccentric painter who thinks Leah is the only person who can help find her missing son. It's a detour Leah feels she doesn't have time for, but also one that seems to carry a great importance she can't ignore even if she doesn't understand it. Lance, while being held captive at a long since abandoned amusement park by the Reverend and the Surfer and the mysterious thing called Patrick Cain, also meets someone new.
