The Saltmire Duology

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
The dead at Saltmire do not rest. They are kept.

Agnes Ashe has spent twelve years pretending to summon the dead—and three years trying to ignore the fact that they now answer.

Scarred by the night she attempted to call her husband back, Agnes works for the Society for Psychical Research, exposing false mediums and manufactured hauntings. Then a seasoned investigator returns from Saltmire House emptied of every desire, every fear, and even his love for his wife. Six weeks later, he walks calmly into a millpond.

Agnes is sent to discover what happened to him.

Saltmire stands alone in an Essex tidal marsh, cut off twice each day by a drowning causeway. Its rooms are crowded with silent dead women. Its master is an elegant, impossible creature who offers Agnes the one mercy she has secretly craved: an end to grief.

But the quiet he gives is not peace.

It is erasure.

As Agnes uncovers the keeper’s three-hundred-year history, suspicion becomes fascination—and fascination becomes a dangerous longing. Every night she remains at Saltmire opens the wound between the living and the dead. Every moment the master wants her loosens his hold on the hungry souls beneath the house.

To leave, Agnes must return to the warm world that has always flinched from her. To stay may cost her the self she fought to keep.

The Keeper of Saltmire is Book One of the Saltmire Duology, an atmospheric gothic romance about haunted houses, monstrous mercy, and the terrible cost of refusing to let go.
