480 Codorus Street Series

In the 1940s and the 1950s, men ruled the home in a much different way then households are ruled today. Domestic violence and marital issues arose. The police stayed clear. If the police did happen to be called on the scene, nothing happened because they believed a man's home was his castle, and anything or anyone in it was his property. Sandra watched her father beat and mentally abuse her mother with no recourse, She vowed to never fall victim to the abuse she witnessed as a child. Sandra broke that vow as she fell victim and experienced the things she witnessed as a child.

This is book two of the 480 Codorus Street series. It is a continuation of the life story of a young Negro girl who was born in 1949 in York, Pennsylvania. She had become a widowed 19-year-old in 1969. It is not a book of fiction, but a book to challenge those young women and/or teen moms who are in the struggle with taking care of their young children.

The decision to write 480 Codorus Street was one riddled with the need to share my story with future generations to ensure they know they can overcome adversity. However, there was also apprehension about reliving events that have left scars that have not completely healed. Without resilience, I would have never endured and conquered the challenges that were placed upon me. I have endured a lifetime of challenges that forced me to make the decision to surrender or fight. I chose to fight!
