Srimad Bhagavatam, "The Beautiful Science of God", is a systematic revelation of the Supreme. In this fifth canto we learn of God’s greatness, how his supreme will keeps everything in perfect order. We first meet the powerful King Priyavrata, who rose to the heavens like a second sun to dissipate the darkness of night and create the divisions of Bhumandala. Then comes his son Agnidhra, who weds the celestial beauty Purvachitti and begets on her nine sons, who each become a lord of one of the provinces of Jambudvipa, the great earthly island on which we reside.

Originally an epic Sanskrit poem of some hundred thousand verses said to have been composed 5,000 years ago, Mahabharata is one of the most revered and loved stories of all time. It plunges us into a wondrous and ancient world of romance and adventure when men knew that there are greater powers than us controlling the universe. In August 1977, Gopi Krishna gave a series of eight discourses to a group of spiritual seekers from Canada at his Central Institute for Kundalini Research near Srinagar, Kashmir, India. In this transcript of these talks, he discusses in detail the characteristics of an enlightened person and various methods to achieve the state of "Cosmic Consciousness". He also spoke on other related topics, such as karma, reincarnation, and meditation. Much of this invaluable material is being presented for the first time and does not appear in any of his other books.
