Classic Poems for Girls is a collection of over 25 funny, whimsical and moving poems for 5- to 10-year olds, designed to fuel the imagination. From the adventures of the Jumblies, who sail away in a sieve; to the sticky end of a girl named Matilda; to the courtship of a maiden who lived long ago, in a kingdom by the sea, there’s a poem to suit any feeling or mood. Seasoned Naxos AudioBooks readers Laura Paton, Anne-Marie Piazza, Benjamin Soames and Roy McMillan work their magic on the works of Edward Lear, Louisa May Alcott, Christina Rossetti, and many more.

Classic Poems for Boys comprises a delightfully varied set of over 20 poems for 5- to 10-year olds. From rousing favorites like Felicia Dorothea Hemans’ "Casabianca" and John Keats’ "A Song About Myself", to dreamy, thoughtful poems by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Rudyard Kipling, this is a collection to be treasured.

Here, in this volume history’s greatest poets convey thoughts, feelings and sentiments of love to you in quick (or bite-size) conversations of verse that can slip into your day and your partner's heart.

Victoria’s reign was long and presided over the restless expansion of the British Empire and reams of creative genius. Within these volumes we can bring only a glimpse of the richness, beauty and words of the poets and their musings on this remarkable age. Many are world-renowned - Tennyson, Browning, Arnold, Kipling, Austin, Hopkins, Hardy and Swinburne. Some are almost forgotten - Patmore, Newbolt, Synge. And some are barely noted - Lyall, Meynell and Merdeith. But together they encompass a great poetical age.

The whimsy, fantasy, and absurd humor in Lear's limericks, poems, songs, and stories are ageless in their appeal to young and old alike. Lewis Carroll's "Phantasmagoria", a not-too-terribly-frightening ghost story, adds to the fun. Also featured are poems by Lewis Carroll.

Edward Lear's much-loved comic poem, featuring the most elegant fowl in literature and his beautiful feline friend, read by Jenny Agutter.

The Book of Nonsense was anonymously published in 1846, with 72 limericks about all sorts of nonsense subjects, like an old man with a beard full of birds, a volcano scientist whose work gets ironically burnt in a volcano, and a woman whose nose was so long she needed a hired hand to carry it. These poems are nonsensical and silly.

How To Own a Human is a selection of writings about cats and for cats. As well as stories and poems, it also includes rhymes, proverbs, fables and quotations, plus instructions for cats on how to train their humans - a sort of "Open Mew-niversity" course for felines. READERS: Ellen Dryden is an actor, writer and director working mainly for the stage and radio.
