Das war keine einfache Aufgabe, vor allem weil er gleichzeitig an seiner Tankstelle unseren Lebensunterhalt verdienen musste. Aber meinem Vater machte das nichts aus. Ich glaube, dass er all die Liebe, die er für meine Mutter empfunden hatte, solange sie lebte, nun mir schenkte. Nicht einen Moment lang war ich unglücklich oder krank in meiner Kindheit".

Roald Dahl, Autor von "Charlie und die Schokoladenfabrik" erzählt die Geschichte eines fantastischen Luftschiffs und seiner krabbelnden Passagiere. Seit seine Eltern von einem Nashorn gefressen wurden, muss James bei seinen beiden garstigen alten Tanten leben. Wahrhaftig kein Vergnügen! Das ändert sich aber schlagartig, als James im Garten einen Riesenpfirsich findet.

Als George an einem Samstagmorgen seiner Oma ihre Medizin verabreichen soll, kommt ihm eine geniale Idee: Er wird selbst einen Trank für sie brauen, der sie ein für alle Mal von ihrer schlechten Laune kurieren soll. Und die Oma kann gar nicht genug davon kriegen! Doch dann beginnt sie zu wachsen und zu wachsen und zu wachsen.
