Throughout this book we learn about the suffering of a baby boy, unwanted by his teenage parents. This boy grew up with an aggressive and womanizing father that constantly reminded him that he was a mistake that ruined his father's life. While been beaten and mentally abused, all he craved from his parents was love but received nothing but humiliation and sufferance from his father. This caused detrimental trauma to the young boy, and he grew up believing that he would not achieve anything in life. I was this little boy, and this is my story.

I chose the title A Childhood in God’s Arms because, throughout my life, my father hurt me. And God gave me a vision of Him picking me up and setting me on His lap as a child who was being abused. I laid my head against His chest, and there were tears falling down His cheeks while He held me in His arms.

None of us were raised by perfect mothers, nor can we ourselves be perfect parents. But some mothers sure do know how to ruin a life—well, almost. I say almost because, although my mother's parenting left severe damage in its path and, regrettably, and inevitably, shaped some of the decisions I made, I am grateful to have realized the issues I was facing. So, I now have the opportunity to properly address those issues to minimize their impact on my life.

This is a story of hope. It is my personal experience of childhood sexual abuse and its impact on me from childhood through to adulthood. It details how I used alcohol and drugs as a means of coping with the long-lasting harm of abuse and its impact on my life. It describes my journey down the destructive path of addiction until finally, with the loving support of my family, I was able to disentangle myself from the grip of alcohol and drugs and live free from the debilitating harm caused by childhood sexual abuse.
