The Montagues and the Capulets, two families of Verona, have been feuding for generations. Young Romeo Montague intends to cause trouble at a Capulet gathering, but while there he sees the Capulet's daughter, Juliet, and falls hopelessly in love. Albert Finney, Claire Bloom, Edith Evans, and Hilton Edwards perform an unabridged version of Shakespeare's tragedy about the two young lovers, whose deaths unite their warring families.

The plot revolves around four characters: Othello, a Moor and general in the Venetian army; his wife, Desdemona; his lieutenant, Cassio; and his most trusted advisor, Iago. The young orphan Oliver Twist flees a cruel workhouse for the dirty streets of London, where he falls in with a nefarious gang. As the shrewd Artful Dodger, the menacing Fagin and the vicious Bill Sikes lead Oliver deeper into a criminal life, a dark conspiracy is revealed around him.

Othello is principally a story of jealousy and its destructive power.

Othello is a courageous general in Venice and - unusually for Shakespeare - a Moor with a black complexion. Although aware that he is a jealous character, and even though he truly loves the fair Desdemona, he is willing to be persuaded by his clever and envious ensign, Iago, that she is being unfaithful to him. It is a true tragedy, which is clearly captured in this telling of the story.

Iago is bitter over the loss of an important job promotion. How can he get revenge? Aha! Nothing could hurt Othello worse than the ruin of his happy marriage.
