3 of my favorite poems written in the past year that will stimulate thought and perspective to how this may apply to living the most beautiful and happiest life we can.

This collection of poems begins in the growing darkness of November, stretches through Advent and the seasons leading to Easter and to Pentecost, and ends in the budding light of the Scottish Orkney Islands, where the canonical hours measure time over centuries and where God broods over an austere and beautiful landscape.

A book for seekers, doubters, and believers alike, these poems bring us face to face with anguish, anger, awe, and adoration. They give us permission not to demand answers, but to follow the questions that lead to the Alpha and Omega, to the I AM that keeps us spiraling along this twisting path toward God.

Often, when speaking of what he has called the poetic operation of language, Scott Cairns has characterized that event as our “glimpsing an indeterminate, inexhaustible enormity within a discrete space.” This is the poet's continuing fascination with lacunae, those spaces, those openings that offer more within than appearances can register from outside the ostensible covert of their terms. Cairns is here focused upon how an image, a word, or—in the case of the Theotokos—a womb can contain the uncontainable.

Original spiritual poetry. The words dance while your heart draws near to God. Do you have questions? There are answers. The printed book shows the poetry in elegant shapes. Most are wine glasses. The place where the piece comes together—where the listener can grasp hold of the message—is there a person picks up the glass to drink from. Contemplative complex poetry meant to feed the mind and soul with spiritual food.

The Belle in the Beast is a poem about a woman forced to adopt a beastly nature to stand trial against her peers.

This poetry book speaks to many levels of relationships. It reads like a story and will take you through a journey of someone being in love, marital bliss to a feeling of betrayal and broken heartedness. The back-and-forth feelings is one that many could relate to. In order to get your life back, one must have a time of reconstruction. Center yourself, focus on the divine higher power and love yourself. You will be taken on a poetically written journey as you enjoy, learn, cry, meditate and lose yourself in the moment in poetry and for some, it will help with your healing process.

The best stories are told from the soul, right? The Epitome of Her is a compilation of journal entries, short stories, and conversations that are meant to strike a sense of healing and clarity. The compilations of short stories and conversations are fictional and solely based on the imagination of the author. A chapbook of experimental Christian poems that push the boundaries of typical patterns and topics. For those who have a basic understanding of scriptures already and wish to think in ways we habitually choose not to think about. Enjoy.

Uncertainty breeds fear, and we certainly live in uncertain times. Look around you--threats of violence and death, financial instability, natural disasters, pandemics, cancel culture, and war headline every news story and dominate nearly every conversation. The devil would have you trembling at all you could lose. But the child of God is not called to live in fear: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV).

The Tender Herb is based on Deuteronomy 32:2-3. It speaks of the Lord dropping words of his doctrine "as the small rain upon the tender herb and as the showers upon the grass." This scripture has such a beautiful connotation upon all our senses. Visually, we can imagine the lightness of a spring shower as the tender buds begin to grow. Concurrently, it's the Lord's message of love to our hearts with gentleness, taking care not to break or bruise our faith in him.
