What is medicine and what is it for? What does it mean to be a good doctor? The Way of Medicine articulates and defends an account of medicine and medical ethics meant to challenge the reigning provider of services model, in which clinicians eschew any claim to know what is good for a patient and instead offer an array of “health care services” for the sake of the patient’s subjective well-being.

My first question was “Does God exist?” But, I would have other questions that followed if He existed. For example, if He existed, I needed to know which God was it or does it matter? If it was Jesus all along, I had some questions. I was a Catholic growing up, but I didn’t have answers to the "Problem of Evil". Was Jesus the savior that damns all my friends and the billions of non-believers to hell who don’t believe in him?

Digital innovation has rapidly changed the landscape of sexual experience in the 21st century. Rules-based sexual ethics, subscribed to by many Christians, are unable to keep up with new developments and, more often than not, seem effective at little other than generating shame.

The work of psychotherapy and counseling is full of ethical challenges and dilemmas. Responding to these situations with wisdom is critical, not only for the professional's credibility, but also for good therapeutic relationships and positive treatment outcomes. Since its first publication, Christian Counseling Ethics has become a standard reference work for Christian psychologists, counselors, and pastors, and a key text at Christian universities and seminaries. This thoroughly revised edition retains core material on counseling ethics that has made it so valuable in a variety of settings.

Blessed are those who defy God. Although bumper stickers abound that propose otherwise, the Bible itself reveals that just because “God says it,” does not, in fact, mean “that settles it.” On the contrary, a close study of Scripture reveals that God does not want us to blindly obey him, but rather, invites us to “lock hands” with him and fight.

In Jesus the Pacifist, Fleischer provides a systematic, biblically based, and comprehensive overview of Jesus’s relationship with violence, one that may forever change how you view his ministry and your calling.

Music is far more central to our lives than we perhaps assume. We come into contact with music all the time—sometimes explicitly as in worship, and sometimes implicitly as with the background music in restaurants that you scarcely notice, and other times explicitly (but still thoughtlessly), as with the music that many have loaded on their iPhone.

Doug discusses the seven deadly sins (a list first formulated in the 16th century) as only an experienced pastor of decades can, with pithy analysis of the temptation and the antidote from the Word of God.

Postmodernism has infiltrated the academy, including the Evangelical academy. Christians must not be intimidated or bullied when they are told they need to be less tied to dry things like "propositions" and "abstractions". But truth is truth. As Chesterton said, “Merely having an open mind is nothing. The object of opening the mind, as of opening the mouth, is to shut it again on something solid.”

A beautiful reflection on the rhythm of God's justice and a call to engage with that rhythm in a way that takes us back toward healing, wholeness, and restoration. God gave Israel the Year of Jubilee as a social reset. Taken together with Sabbath laws and gleaning laws (laws dealt with the...

Scripture warns believers of hypocrisy—called the "leaven of the Pharisees"—and its potential to spread quickly in the church. Outwardly appearing as devout religion, this legalism hides destructive pride, idolatry, and even apostasy. Unfortunately, pharisaism is still a problem among evangelicals today. How does Jesus instruct the church to recognize and defeat one of its deepest theological issues? In this clear, compelling call to spiritual reformation, Michael Reeves helps believers reject pharisaism and embrace gospel integrity.

Moral Revolution seeks to inspire a culture of love, honor, and respect with people who walk in purity, passion, and power. This intimate and honest audiobook addresses the root causes of purity issues rather than merely communicating to the masses to "abstain from having sex". It will call you to a higher standard of living, impart value for your heart, and encourage you to walk in all God has created you to be. Many who have given in to the power of peer pressure and the lure of distorted cultural values will find hope and courage to start over again.

Flourishing on the Edge of Faith is a passionate meditation on the profound significance of Jesus's prayer. With years of study, teaching, and peacemaking around the world, Dr. Andrew DeCort uncovers Jesus's radical vision for human flourishing in the face of suffering and violence. Wherever you are on the edge of faith, this book will meet your questions with honesty and hope.

Jesus said, "You must be born again." This book seeks to show the listener that "new life" is new in quality and capacity, not just new in time, and that a sixth need, blessedness, should be added to William Glasser's Choice Theory so that a more complete view of human functioning can be understood. The human soul needs a "felt" relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, in order to function as God designed it. Blessedness is a real human need. Thomas Traherne, a 17th-century pastor and philosopher, helps us to understand this need and how to bring it to a reality in our lives.

Conventional wisdom says that marriage as we experience it and understand it hasn’t changed much through human history. But marriage has and will continue to evolve and change as human beings wrestle with what kind of loving forms marriage should take. Is our current construct of marriage helping us or hurting us? How could we begin to imagine new forms of marriage that are more loving?

In this sensitive and probing book, Matthew Ichihashi Potts explores the complex moral terrain of forgiveness, which he claims has too often served as a salve to the conscience of power rather than as an instrument of healing or justice. Though forgiveness is often linked with reconciliation or the abatement of anger, Potts resists these associations, asserting instead that forgiveness is simply the refusal of retaliatory violence through practices of penitence and grief.

Many American Christians have good intentions, working hard to welcome immigrants with hospitality and solidarity. But how can we do that in a way that empowers our immigrant neighbors rather than pushing them to the fringes of white-dominant culture and keeping them as outsiders? That's exactly the question Karen González explores in Beyond Welcome.
