Jesus told His followers to go into the world and preach the Good News. However, many Christians aren’t fulfilling this Great Commission. The call to “evangelize” conjures up uncomfortable images of walking inner city streets with a megaphone. We don’t relish facing possible ridicule so prevalent in society today, so we hesitate to reach out. But we are called to witness. And it isn’t that difficult. When we anchor in the goodness of Christ, we realize that sharing the Gospel is a profound honor.

Discover how the mission of the church relates to the work done by Christians individually to serve and better us all collectively. Our goal as Christians is never simply to build our own tribe. Instead, we seek the peace and prosperity of the city or community in which we live through a gospel...

When Christians recognize and use the amazing gift of spiritual authority, they position themselves to provide protection and bring transformation, not only in their lives but in the lives of family members, friends, and even coworkers. Now fully revised and updated.

A life of signs, wonders, and miracles awaits! When Christians hear the word “evangelism”, they are immediately uncomfortable. The call to “share your faith” puts many on edge because, while common evangelism “formulas” feel awkward and impersonal, without them one is left fumbling and ineffective. But what if there was a better way? What if evangelism could, in fact, be a prophetic encounter with the supernatural voice of God? In Prophetic Evangelism, author, missionary, and evangelist, Sean Smith reintroduce believers to Jesus’ “model” of evangelism.

Never has there been a more important time for every church to have a parish nursing ministry to guide members through the murky waters of healthcare, but few know anything about it. Parish means church. Why now? Because you're needed! With a love for Jesus and people, any Christian nurse can become a parish nurse and guide his or her people through the problems that any church may encounter living in a fallen world. Through skills, spiritual gifts and nursing prayers, Jesus works through the Christian nurse to heal the body and soul.

The gospel of Jesus has not always been good news for Native Americans. The history of North America is marred by atrocities committed against Native peoples. Indigenous cultures were erased in the name of Christianity. As a result, to this day few Native Americans are followers of Jesus. However, despite the far-reaching effects of colonialism, some Natives have forged culturally authentic ways to follow the way of Jesus. In his final work, Richard Twiss provides a contextualized Indigenous expression of the Christian faith among the Native communities of North America.

Is the way we do church making disciples of our people and helping them fulfil their God-given purpose? There can be no apathy, restlessness, or boredom in such a church! In his warm and candid style, Howard Webb shows how the scriptural model of church as a mission-centered family embracing its place is the way to both grow our people and grow the Kingdom. After his resurrection, the Lord Jesus revealed how his suffering, glory, and mission plan for the nations are in fact central to the biblical story of redemption. After Emmaus shows how Christology and missiology are integrally connected throughout Scripture, especially in the teaching of Jesus and the apostles. Brian Tabb explains what Luke 24:46-47 reveals about God’s messianic promises in the Old Testament, their fulfillment in the New Testament, and the purpose of the church.

With no mission board to support or guide her, and less than 10 dollars in her pocket, Gladys Aylward left her home in England to answer God's call to take the message of the gospel to China. With the Sino-Japanese War waging around her, she struggled to bring the basics of life and the fullness of God to orphaned children. Time after time, God triumphed over impossible situations, and drew people to himself. Gladys Aylward: The Little Woman tells the story of one woman's determination to serve God at any cost.

The Book of Acts is a great story of the early church Jesus started and left in the tiny nation of Israel. He left his unlikely group of disciples with the enormous task of spreading what they knew about Jesus and their experience with him to the entire world. They were successful and not only reached their world, but generations into the future. Approximately 2,000 years after he returned to Heaven, the church exists in places like South America, Asia, and the remotest islands of the Earth.

Most of us simply assume that we have a right to retire from work and spend the rest of our lives doing whatever we want. While the idea of a long holiday sounds wonderful, this ideal picture is not the whole truth. Retirement often brings relationship challenges, health problems, and crises of purpose and motivation; it is not the paradise we have been promised. God’s word never encourages us to take an extended holiday towards the end of our lives; retirement is not a Biblical idea. The Bible is, however, very helpful for us as we prepare for our later years.

In 2003, Cindy McGill created the Freedom Lounge theme camp at the Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. From there, her efforts evolved to reaching young women and men within porn conventions, using dream interpretation as a tool to reach those living a life they have settled for instead of the one they are made for. From pagan festivals, new age events, film festivals, adult entertainment arenas, gay pride events, gothic cultures, and just about any place, people are starving for truth, Cindy and her teams are there.

On March 8, 1782, a group of Western settlers killed nearly 100 unarmed and peaceful Indians who had converted to Christianity under the tutelage of missionaries from the Church of the United Brethren. The murders were cold-blooded and heartless; roughly two-thirds of those executed were women and children. Since that maelstrom of violence struck the small Indian village of Gnadenhutten, history has treated the episode as a simple morality tale.

Even if you don’t go to the city to minister, make no mistake—the city is coming to you. Regardless of your particular cultural or geographical context, you will need to consider the city when forming a theological vision that engages the people you are trying to reach. In Loving the City...

It is easy to assume that if we understand the gospel and preach it faithfully, our ministry will necessarily be shaped by it—but this is not true. Many churches claim to be gospel-centered but do not have a ministry that is shaped by, centered on, and empowered through the gospel. The...
