一致の難しさと大切さ、それが自分たちの意志からではなく神の力によって実現すること、だから見た目に優れた能力やはたらきがすばらしいのではなく、神の愛を伝える務めがすばらしいということが記されています。結婚式の中でよく朗読される有名な「愛の賛歌」もこの手紙の中にあります。最後は、復活についてのパウロの信仰が語られます。
