For Latter-day Saints, Jesus’s suffering in Gethsemane is pivotal to his mission of saving and redeeming humankind. As such, the location where his suffering took place is also worth careful study and contemplation. In this book—A Place Called Gethsemane—scholars Matthew J. Grey and Richard Neitzel Holzapfel introduce listeners to some of the latest historical and archaeological findings about Gethsemane and the surrounding areas that offer new, fascinating insights into Jesus’s sacred experience on that final night of his mortality.

Experience the pioneer trail in a different way as you get the perspective of a pioneer mother with young children written by her fourth-great-granddaughter, who also happens to be a mother with children the same age. Eliza Cusworth was born to a wealthy family in Almondbury, England. A few years after her miraculous conversion, her husband died. On his deathbed, he urged Eliza to move to Utah and raise her children amongst the saints. This book tells the story of ELIZA’s FIRE from her mischievous youth, to the wondrous day when her family is sealed in the Manti temple.

Beginning with a handful of members in 1830, the church that Joseph Smith founded has grown into a world-wide organization with over twelve million adherents, playing prominent roles in politics, sports, entertainment, and business. Yet they are an oddity. Mormonism: A Very Short Introduction explains who Mormons are: what they believe and how they live their lives.

In Covenant Power, teacher Sharla Goettl uses captivating storytelling to bring key endowment principles to life, presented in the imagined voices of the scriptural figures who taught each principle best, such as Peter, Eve, Nephi, & Mormon. Through these stories, you'll gain an understanding of how the endowment prepares us to receive Christ’s covenant power. They also highlight connections between the scriptures and the endowment. God designed temple covenants to enable lasting success, calm deep fears, and build steady confidence.

In this call for a “renewal” within the Latter-day Saint tradition that is as fervent as it is sincere, Nathan Kitchen has offered us a gift. This memoir provides a compelling glimpse not only into Kitchen’s own moving experience, but into the world of paradoxes, pain, and progress inhabited by those who aim to balance both queer and Mormon identities.

Now for the first time, the complete unabridged book is available in audio. Learn of David's profound insights as read by the skilled voiceover of his own son-in-law Kevn Lambson.

Why should I listen to this book? It teaches you the difference between Christianity and the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS).

What do you do when the institution you love creates friction with your calling? Using Friction to Grow profiles pioneering LDS women of the early 1970s—the ERA era—who found a way to say “and” instead of “or.” They were mothers and pathologists, mothers and judges, mothers and professors. They stayed, navigated real tension, and used that resistance to grow.

In 1958, a six-pound, seven-ounce baby girl was born in Ogden, Utah. She was born "cursed" according to the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) because she was Black. Only one-tenth of one percent of people living in Utah during this time were Black. Ninety-eight percent of Utahns were white, and most of them were Mormons. Not only were Mormons taught that Black people were cursed, but that they were "loathsome and filthy" compared to white people who were considered "white and delightsome.

We’re Thankful for the Moisture contains personal essays by award-winning humor columnist Eli McCann for The Salt Lake Tribune, along with corresponding cartoons by the Tribune’s Pat Bagley. McCann explores cultural Mormonism and his experiences growing up in Utah as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1990s, coming out as gay in adulthood, leaving his faith, and navigating life in Salt Lake City with his husband and their young child.

We live in a world of radical individualism, where people care more about satisfying their own needs than they do about the needs of others. This mindset can lead to broken relationships—both human and divine. This is the polar opposite of what those in the City of Enoch experienced. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to feel that kind of Christ-like unity? Would you like to feel closer to the Lord, heal a relationship, or forgive those who have wronged you? The principles in this book will help you along this journey toward oneness.

With wit and sensitivity, Behind the Mormon Curtain takes a deep dive into the quintessential American religion and the world's oldest profession, as Cuno tells the story of what he discovered, how he discovered it, and what it reveals not just about Mormons, but about us all.

Repentance is one of the core tenets of the gospel, but what does it truly mean? Understanding the principle of repentance at a deeper level is often overshadowed by the simplistic reciting of the five-step process of repentance: (1) recognition, (2) remorse, (3) confession, (4) restitution, and (5) forgiveness. But repenting is so much more than a checklist step in the process to get on the righteous path.

Every child of God, despite our past spiritual experiences, can expect to have our faith and testimony tested during our spiritual journey. Doubt is a normal part of our faith experience. The question is not whether moments of doubt will arise in our lives, but where we will turn and who we will look to when they do arise. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, taught us where to look when doubt threatens our faith.

Paul says in 2 Timothy 4:3, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers having itching ears” (telling them what they want to hear). Verse 4 says, “And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” So, are the Mormons teaching fables?

Laurie Lee Hall’s growing-up years were defined by the conflict between her physical condition as a boy and her inherent identity as a girl. Unable to explain or resolve her gender dysphoria, she committed to living her adult life as a male. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, eventually becoming chief architect of its temples and an ecclesiastical leader. In her church and community, rigid adherence to gender roles is not only the norm, but the defining issue of a faith that doctrinally declares one’s gender as an “eternal identity.

On June 9, 1978, the phones at the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) were ringing nonstop. On that historic day, LDS church president Spencer W. Kimball announced a revelation lifting the church's 126-year-old ban barring Black people from the priesthood and Mormon temples. It was the most significant change in LDS doctrine since the end of polygamy almost 100 years earlier. Drawing on never-before-seen private papers of LDS apostles and church presidents, Harris probes the plot twists and turns, the near-misses and paths not taken, of this incredible story.
