Se vogliamo relazioni evolutive, appaganti e durature, che non lascino cicatrici emotive di sofferenza in noi e negli altri, occorre diventare capaci di gestire in maniera equilibrata la propria affettività. Quanti cosiddetti sacrifici le persone fanno inutilmente: sforzi ciechi, passionali, compiuti sull'impeto di attrazioni fatali per poi infine scoprire che quello che rincorrevano non era né quello che cercavano, né quello che intimamente volevano.

"L'Uomo è un animale sociale", afferma Aristotele. Eppure la libertà individuale sembra cozzare con le esigenze della convivenza. Solitudine e libertà: è possibile che questi due termini costituiscano un sodalizio? Dunque, se non siamo liberi (dagli attaccamenti dell'ego) non possiamo imparare ad amare, perché amore e libertà vanno di pari passo.

Ci sono senza dubbio affinità karmiche che determinano le relazioni tra persone, ma non è detto che queste siano di per sé sempre positive. A volte le affinità karmiche che fanno stare assieme le persone vanno ad incentivare il negativo presente in ciascuno. Meglio a volte una sana complementarietà che integra e colma le carenze reciproche, che una stessa identità di carattere, percezione e attitudine che enfatizza i reciproci difetti. Come fare a distinguere le affinità karmiche dalle affinità elettive?
