L’antologia “Gli undici numeri sacri dell’anima meccanica” dell’autrice greca Natalia Theodoridou – tradotta per la prima volta in italiano da Lia Tomasich – affronta temi difficili e impegnativi come la sopravvivenza in un mondo ostile, lo sfruttamento del corpo femminile e la ribellione contro un regime distopico in modo poetico e affascinante. Il racconto “Gli undici numeri sacri dell’anima meccanica”, pur ispirandosi a un artista olandese molto singolare – Theo Jansen – e alla sua opera geniale, si sviluppa come una storia a se stante.

In questa raccolta di racconti, tre narrazioni ad altissimo potenziale corrosivo, Nicoletta Vallorani, tra le migliori autrici di fantascienza italiana, ci riporta alle tipiche atmosfere del noir e cyberpunk, che fanno da sfondo e cornice alla nostra realtà contemporanea. Tra loschi suq milanesi e traffici illegali di organi e dati, ecco prendere forma un moderno “catalogo di orrori assortiti, […] signore rifatte, omologhi erotici e synthafreak a quintali.”

Le storie di Gord Sellar sono un’esplosione di temi su alcune tendenze del futuro prossimo: diritto al longevismo dalla Corea del Sud, terrorismo vegano dal Nord America, tecniche di adescamento ambientale dall’Europa Occidentale e teorie del multiverso dallo spazio profondo. Con una prosa fluida e accattivante, questi quattro racconti, tradotti per la prima volta in italiano da Fabiano Fiore, dimostrano l’esuberanza narrativa di un autore cosmopolita che sa sfruttare ogni aspetto del genere fantascientifico per restituire un’esperienza totalizzante. Una selezione di alcune delle voci più importanti della fantascienza cinese contemporanea che di certo delizieranno i lettori di tutto il mondo.
