Struggling with mental health issues can be lonely. The world, to the sufferer, is not bright and vibrant, but rather dark and bleak. We long to see the beauty, but it is difficult to navigate the caverns of depression. The light is always seen, but is just out of reach.

I wrote this anthology over a period of 11 years on and off. This book is borne from an encouragement and cheer ministry I have on the job plus the special gift I have in writing Christian poetry. I have been writing and reading verses and poems to cheer the sick I care for. I added a Bible verse each time, and both were received well and created joy in their hearts.

Lit Soul: My Journey Back to Faith is a collection of poetry written in four sections about love, loss, finding your place in the world, and coming back to what you can’t see, which is faith. The purpose for which I wrote the following poem(s) is because they assisted me in expressing the feelings, thoughts, and emotions which I was having at the time while I walked through a relatively challenging period of my life. I hope to inspire other young Black males to also express their thoughts, talk about their feelings, and to hopefully try to make the world a better place. Allow yourself as the listener to think of your own perspective regarding these topics, issues, and subject matters.

This collection of pieces that I have written is, in my opinion, some of my best writing thus far in my short endeavor into being an author. They are poems and quotes about relationships that I have had over my lifetime, and though most I will never see or hear from again, they still are and will always be very much alive in my ink and memories. With that being said, there are always those that stand out in my heart, mind, and soul more than all the others and today are a very big part of my life in one way or another.
