On May 8, 1373, 30-year-old Julian of Norwich, sick and near death, had a series of visions of Christ. In these 16 visions she learnt about God's loving nature. God in Julian's visions was not angry and wrathful. Instead, the three properties of God were presented as life, love and light, and all of His creation was good, including his servant, man. In Julian's version, Man is not to blame for his sin; instead it is something that he must experience and overcome in his spiritual journey with God.

The talks in this volume are not verbatim transcriptions. In the early years of Gurdjieff's exposition of the fourth way teaching, he rarely allowed notes to be taken during his talks. The majority of his early talks were written down after the fact by pupils who were present, either individually or collectively, and should be taken as recollections of what people believed Gurdjieff to have said.

"When man sees the Bible as a great psychological drama, with all of its characters and actors as the personified qualities, and attributes, of his own consciousness, then - and then only - will the Bible reveal to him the light of its symbology. This Impersonal principle of life, which made all things, is personified as God...." This is volume two in the Neville Goddard Collection.

The little family of mystical treatises that is known to students as “the Cloud of Unknowing group” deserves more attention than it has hitherto received from English lovers of mysticism, for it represents the first expression in our own tongue of that great mystic tradition of the Christian Neoplatonists that gathered up, remade, and “salted with Christ's salt” all that was best in the spiritual wisdom of the ancient world.

Centering prayer is the path to a wonderful and radical new way of seeing the world. It is not, as is sometimes thought, simply an act of devotional piety, nor is it a Christianized form of other meditation methods. What is cosmic consciousness? The present volume is an attempt to answer this question; but notwithstanding it seems well to make a short prefatory statement in as plain language as possible so as to open the door, as it were, for the more elaborate exposition to be attempted in the body of the work. Cosmic consciousness, then, is a higher form of consciousness than that possessed by the ordinary man.
