A killer goes on a murderous rampage at an exclusive Palm Beach country club. Crawford and Ott arrive just fifteen minutes after the mass carnage and can’t believe what they’ve just walked into. A man with a semiautomatic assault rifle is all they know… and a day later that’s still all they know. But then the suspect list starts to grow… and grow. As does the pressure to catch the killer before he strikes again.

A clueless kid and his girlfriend make a discovery that could make them millions… or more likely, get them killed. Enter Crawford and Ott... in furious pursuit of the couple, on a wild ride which takes them down to Miami, then up to New York, and ends with a red-hot Charlie-Dominica road trip to the Keys. Along the way is a dazzling ex-girlfriend of Charlie’s, and a treacherous array of drug dealers, cutthroat contract killers and a murderous Columbian gang leader.

A legendary sports agent is found floating at the Palm Beach docks. Official conclusion: he was drunk, fell into the Intracoastal, and drowned. But Crawford and Ott aren’t buying it. Not for one second. Suspects? Take your pick: A 375-pound ex-football player whose wife had become far too friendly with the agent? A beautiful client—mistress to a fearsome Russian billionaire—with whom the line between business and pleasure had become hopelessly blurred? The libidinous agent's own girlfriend, strung along by continued promises of marriage once his alleged divorce was finalized?
