These four works show Samuel Beckett at his most penetrating. Both Krapp's Last Tape (1958) and Not I (1972) are among the most striking pieces written for the theatre in the 20th century. "L'Étourdi ou les contretemps" est la première comédie en 5 actes et en vers de Molière. Elle fut créée à Lyon en 1655 et reprise à Paris dès l'installation de la troupe en 1658, au théâtre du "Petit Bourbon". Lélie, fils de Pandolfe, aime Célie, esclave de Truffaldin aimée aussi de Léandre. Pour faire triompher son amour, il a recours aux stratagèmes de Mascarille, son valet, mais les fait échouer par ses étourderies. Acte II, scènes 1 à 7. "Le Dépit amoureux" est lié à une autre étape provinciale de Molière, Béziers. La pièce y fut donnée en 1656.
