In June, 1820, I travel to Lyon to attend a wedding, looking forward to sunny strolls on the city’s two rivers and sampling the region’s food. Instead, I soon spy a man from my past who stirs painful and enraging memories. A children's book author finds his psyche and life unraveling as his books get banned, charges loom for an inadvertent crime and his 'fiction' erupts to alarming life. To stave off at least one of these, he's also drafted, against his will, to help solve a string of vicious murders in L.A.
