  • Baltimore Through the Eyes of an Artist | Khalil M. (Questions with Khalil)
    2026/08/11

For this special episode of Very Much So Pod, I’m joined by Khalil McFarlene, a visual artist based in Baltimore, Maryland, for a conversation unlike anything we’ve done before.I first saw Khalil’s work in January and was completely blown away. We originally talked about a possible collaboration, but the idea of him live painting during our podcast conversation came up so organically that we had to make it happen. And it represented a first for both of us.🎨 My first interview ever for the podcast.🎨 Khalil’s first time painting in months. In this episode, we talk about Khalil’s painting process, his journey as a Baltimore artist, when he first started painting, the power of building his own table, becoming the youngest artist to have a solo exhibition at Aye Art Gallery, and what it means to build a creative practice on your own terms. And because this is Very Much So Pod, we also get into his favorite Bad B drinks 🤭, the songs currently on repeat, and plenty of Khalil-isms. You’ll get it once you watch. We also screened segments of this conversation as part of Summer Bucket List, my experiential event series celebrating creativity, culture, hobbies, and community. Getting to share Khalil’s story with a room full of creative peers, then continue the conversation about his journey, was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done with this platform.Huge shoutout to Khalil for trusting me with his story, his vulnerability, and his art.Black creatives to the world. 🖤🎨 FOLLOW KHALILInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/khalilmcf/🎨 KHALIL'S UPCOMING SOLO EXHIBITIONFriday, August 21 | 6–9 PMThe Peale MuseumBaltimore, MDIf you’re interested in Baltimore artists, Black art, the Baltimore creative scene, live painting, visual art, artist interviews, and the stories behind the work, this one is for you.Subscribe to Very Much So Pod for more conversations with artists, creatives, and people building something of their own.#KhalilMcFarlene #BaltimoreArtist #BaltimoreArt #BlackArtists #LivePainting #ArtistInterview #BaltimoreCreatives #BlackCreatives #VeryMuchSoPod #ThePealeMuseum #AyeArtGallery #BaltimoreArts....Khalil McFarlene, Khalil McFarlene artist, Khalil McFarlene Baltimore, Khalil McFarlene paintings, Khalil McFarlene artwork, Khalil McFarlene interview, Khalil McFarlene live painting, Khalil McFarlene Aye Art Gallery, Khalil McFarlene exhibition, Baltimore artist, Baltimore artists, Baltimore visual artist, Baltimore painters, Baltimore painting, Baltimore art, Baltimore artwork, Baltimore art scene, Baltimore art community, Baltimore creatives, Baltimore creative scene, Baltimore Maryland artists, Maryland artists, Maryland visual artists, Black Baltimore artists, Black artists, Black visual artists, Black creatives, Black contemporary artists, Black art, contemporary Black art, emerging Black artists, Black artist interview, artist interview, visual artist interview, artist conversation, artist spotlight, artist feature, artist profile, live painting, live painting Baltimore, Baltimore artists live painting, live painting artist, live painting interview, painting live, painting process, artist painting, artist creative process, creative process, painting process interview, behind the art, behind the painting, art and creativity, Baltimore art events, Baltimore art exhibitions, Baltimore art galleries, Baltimore gallery, Baltimore art show, Baltimore solo exhibition, solo exhibitions Baltimore, solo exhibition artist, Baltimore art festival, Baltimore art festival artists, Love Groove Festival, Love Groove Baltimore, Love Groove Festival Baltimore, Aye Art Gallery, Aye Art Gallery Baltimore, The Peale Baltimore, Peale Museum Baltimore, Baltimore art museum, Baltimore creative community, Baltimore culture, Baltimore Black culture, Baltimore local artists, Baltimore art lovers, Baltimore art scene 2026, Baltimore events 2026, Baltimore artists 2026, Baltimore art events 2026
