  • Episode 5 - Spiritual Practices: Cultivating Rest
    2025/06/02

In this episode, Johnny (who’s part of the Rooted team) shares from his personal journey of learning to live from a place of rest. Drawing on the life of Jesus and ancient spiritual rhythms, he unpacks how cultivating rest—especially through Sabbath—can become a foundation for spiritual formation and transformation.

    • Understand that spiritual formation is always happening, the question is: ‘what is forming you?’

    • Learn from Jesus’ example of spiritual practices

    • See Sabbath through the lens of resistance, restoration and trust

    • Receive fresh faith for Sabbath and why it’s a crucial discipline for us to practice intentionally.

“You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” – St Augustine

    Key Scriptures:

Mark 2:27 - The Sabbath was made for man

  • Episode 4 - Worship: Wrestle with the One You Sing to
    2025/05/04

In this episode, Jasmin (who’s part of the Rooted team) dives into the raw and often costly journey of worship. Worship isn’t always easy; sometimes, it’s a wrestle. If we can embrace the struggle, we get to see God more clearly and the fruit is greater intimacy with Him.

    • Receive fresh faith for wrestling with God in worship

    • Understand what wrestling with God might look like

    • Learn from Simon Peter in Matthew 16 and Jacob in Genesis 32

    • Hear some of Jasmin’s own story of worshipping through a valley season

Whether you’re on a mountaintop, in a valley, or somewhere between, this episode reminds us that those who walk with a limp often carry a story of intimacy with God. Worshipping with a whole heart might mean wrestling for it first, but in the end, it's worth it—because He is worth it.

    Key Scriptures:

Matthew 16 - ‘Who do you say that I am?’

Genesis 32 - Jacob wrestles with God

  • Bonus - Confidence in Worship
    2025/04/06

Have you ever thought about what biblical worship looks like?

This bonus episode features a preach Wendy gave at Gateway Church Ashford, UK. In it, she explores seven different Hebrew words for praise and unpacks what they might look like in practice when we worship.

Being a wholehearted disciple means being passionately in love with Jesus and pouring out that love in praise. Listen now and let your heart be stirred to worship Him with all that you are.

    • BARAK - To kneel or to bow down in adoration. It’s a humble position before God (Psalm 34:1)

    • YADAH - To throw out the hand, to worship with an extended hand, to lift the hands (Psalm 107:15)

    • TOWDAH - An extension of the hand in adoration or acceptance. Comes from an attitude of praising God before the fact. Thanking God for things not yet received (Psalm 100:4)

    • SHABACH - To address in a loud tone, a loud adoration, a shout! Proclaim with a loud voice. The attitude of putting your whole being into it, an attitude of being totally uninhibited (Psalm 145:4)

    • HALAL - To be clear, to shine, to make a show, to boast, to be clamorously foolish, to rave, to celebrate (Psalm 113:1-3)

    • ZAMAR - To touch the strings, to pluck the strings and sing along. To make music accompanied by the voice. To celebrate in song and music (Psalm 21:13)

    • TEHILLAH - The song of praise. To sing or laud. To sing a spontaneous new song. A song of praise and adoration (Psalm 22:3)

    • Key Scripture:

      Psalm 100: 1-5
