  • parenting when you don't have contact or access to your children
    2026/04/07
How often have you walked the ‘high road’, believing it to be the road to success, only to find it’s not always the best route when engaging with the complexities of parental alienation? Join me, Lawrence Joss, as we dismantle this concept and explore the profound impact it can have, not just on us, but our children as well. We’ll dig into my personal journey, discussing the integral role of self-advocacy, the power of resilience, and the importance of selecting the right resources – be it therapists or attorneys. Let’s also delve into the ‘secret handshake’ or ‘unilateral agreement’ notion that we unknowingly carry from our upbringing, and its unintended ripple effects on our children.

Let’s get critical together, as we analyze how the dynamics of our family origin can bleed into our adulthood, affecting our relationship with our children. We’ll dissect the sealed system of parental alienation, understanding how we, as parents, can inadvertently feed the disease through our actions. It’s time to be proactive about our healing journey, to take responsibility for our actions and be mindful of our perspectives. We’ll also touch on the difficult conversations around parental alienation that often cause discomfort within the family system.

But it’s not all about the struggles; there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. We’ll learn how we can use our collective power to orchestrate sustainable, long-term change. Let’s explore the opportunities available for community engagement – from being part of our podcast crew to joining the Family Hope project, or participating in parental alienation anonymous support groups. We’ll also uncover how foundational trainings, such as NVC, can aid us in better understanding our children’s experiences and needs. So, buckle up for a journey of understanding, self-advocacy, and community inclusion as we navigate the challenging terrain of parenting without access.

  • What not to do if you are an alienated parent (Part 2)
    2026/03/31
Many people often make the mistake of thinking it is the job of other people to fill the voids and mend the broken pieces within us.

However, WE are the only ones who can do the inner work to better ourselves. While we need the right tools, and the guidance of the right community, it all comes down to the work we are willing to do within ourselves. It’s a process that takes time, but the results will be transformational.

This episode is the second part of ‘What NOT to Do if You Are an Alienated Parent’.

Renèe and Georgette delve into the patterns they repeated in order to get the attention of their kids, and how this tied into the thought process that, as parents, they are only loved and needed when they get a response. They share how things changed throughout their healing process, and how these changes resulted in better connections and relationships with their loved ones.

  • What not to do if you are an alienated parent (Part 1)
    2026/03/31
Host Lawrence Joss has invited a panel of parents who have ‘been there before’ to share the benefits of their hindsight. Today’s episode unpacks some of the common mistakes parents make when trying to reconnect with their loved ones.

The beauty of this episode is that if you are dealing with family estrangement or alienation, just by listening in, you give yourself a shot at not making some of the same mistakes.

There is good advice for parenting in general, too – from not putting too much pressure on your kids in terms of them communicating with you, to not asking one child about how another child is doing (i.e., placing your focus on the child you are actually with). There’s also wonderful insight into the rooms of PA-A, and the tools you can learn to deal with family estrangement.
