We often exhaust ourselves trying to control outcomes, fix everyone’s problems, understand every detail, and carry responsibilities God never asked us to carry. The truth is simple but freeing: you are not God—and you don’t have to be.

In this episode of the iOVERCOME Podcast, Jim and Sherri discuss what happens when we stop trying to control everything and begin trusting the One who truly is in control. You can make wise decisions, take faithful steps, and love people well—but you must leave the results in God’s hands.

Let go of the pressure to have every answer. Release what you cannot control. God is God, and you can trust Him.

  • "WHEN YOUR TRUTH DISAGREES WITH JESUS"

The world tells us to “live your truth,” but what happens when our truth disagrees with Jesus?

Our feelings are real, but they aren’t always reliable. Our opinions can change, our experiences can mislead us, and culture constantly shifts—but the truth of Jesus never changes.

In this episode of the iOVERCOME Podcast, Jim and Sherri discuss the difference between building your life around personal feelings and building it upon the words of Christ. Following Jesus means allowing Him to correct us, lead us, and transform us—even when His truth challenges what we want to believe.

Jesus didn’t call us to create our own truth. He called us to know the truth, live the truth, and follow Him.

“Your truth may reflect how you feel, but Jesus’ truth reveals how you should live.”

  • THE LOST ARE WORTH LOOKING FOR
    2026/09/08

Jesus never treated lost people like interruptions—He treated them like they mattered.

In this episode of the iOVERCOME Podcast, Jim and Sherri discuss the heart of Jesus for people who feel forgotten, overlooked, rejected, or far from God. Through the stories of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son in Luke 15, Jesus shows us that we should never become so comfortable with the people already inside that we stop searching for those who are still outside.

Reaching the lost requires more than inviting people to church. It means noticing them, listening to their stories, meeting them where they are, and showing them that they matter to God—and to us.

“If lost people matter to Jesus, they must matter to us.”

  • DON’T LET REGRET WRITE YOUR FUTURE
    2026/08/27

    Send us Fan Mail

You cannot change what happened yesterday, but you can decide what you do with today.

In this episode of the iOVERCOME Podcast, Jim and Sherri discuss how regret keeps us trapped in past mistakes, missed opportunities, and painful decisions. While God wants us to learn from the past, He never intended for us to live there.

Through the grace of Jesus, your worst moment does not have to become your permanent identity. God can forgive you, restore you, and use even the broken parts of your story for something good. Your past may explain where you have been, but it does not get to determine where God is taking you.

“You can learn from yesterday without living in yesterday.”

  • EVERYONE DESERVES ANOTHER CHANCE
    2026/08/21

    Send us Fan Mail

We are often quick to ask for grace when we fail—but slow to offer that same grace to someone else.

In this episode of the iOVERCOME Podcast, Jim and Sherri discuss why a person’s worst mistake should not define the rest of their life. Jesus consistently saw beyond people’s failures. He restored Peter after his denial, defended the woman caught in sin, and transformed Paul from a persecutor into a preacher.

Offering another chance does not mean ignoring the hurt, removing every consequence, or abandoning healthy boundaries. It means believing that God is still capable of changing a heart and rewriting a story.

None of us is beyond the reach of God’s grace—and no one should be permanently imprisoned by a past Jesus is willing to redeem.

“Don’t define someone by the chapter where God found them.”

  • WHO’S REALLY IN CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE?
    2026/08/20

    Send us Fan Mail

We say that Jesus is Lord—but do our decisions, priorities, and reactions tell a different story?

In this episode of the iOVERCOME Podcast, Jim and Sherri discuss the struggle to surrender control to God. It is easy to trust Him when life follows our plans, but real faith is revealed when God leads us somewhere unexpected.

If fear controls your choices, money controls your priorities, people’s opinions control your identity, or your desires control your direction, then Jesus may be part of your life without truly being in control of it.

Following Jesus means more than asking Him to bless the life we have chosen. It means surrendering the steering wheel and trusting Him to lead—even when we cannot see the entire road ahead.

“Jesus cannot lead the life you refuse to surrender.”

  • WHO HAS YOUR HEART—MONEY OR GOD?
    2026/08/18

    Send us Fan Mail

Money is not evil, but it becomes dangerous when it takes the place in our hearts that belongs to God.

In this episode of the iOVERCOME Podcast, Jim and Sherri discuss Jesus’ warning that we cannot serve both God and money. Money can provide comfort, create opportunities, and meet real needs—but it cannot give us lasting peace, purpose, security, or identity.

The real question is not whether you have money. It is whether money has you. When financial success becomes our greatest pursuit, it begins directing our decisions, consuming our thoughts, and defining our worth.

Jesus is not simply asking for a portion of what we possess. He wants to be first in every part of our lives—including our finances.

“Money is a useful servant, but a terrible god.”

  • DON’T SAVE YOUR GIFTS FOR SUNDAY
    2026/08/11

    Send us Fan Mail

God didn’t give you gifts to use for only one hour a week.

In this episode of the iOVERCOME Podcast, Jim and Sherri discuss how following Jesus continues long after the Sunday service ends. Your gifts are meant to make a difference in your home, workplace, neighborhood, church, and everyday relationships.

You don’t need a platform, a title, or a position to be used by God. Encouraging someone, meeting a need, sharing your faith, offering wisdom, or simply showing up can become an act of ministry.

The church is not just a place we attend—it is who we are wherever God sends us. Discover what He has placed inside you, and put it to work throughout the week.

“Your gift was not given for a stage—it was given to serve.”
