Gather Around the Table | The Biblical Case for Hospitality and Why Someone Is Waiting for Your Invitation | in case i forget

Open the Door Series | Part 02

Last week we talked about opening the door to new friendships and the practical tools that help you cross that initial threshold of connecting with someone new. This week we are going deeper. We are talking about what happens after the door is open — gathering around the table, extending the invitation, and the very biblical, very countercultural act of hospitality.

Y'all, I have to be honest. Hospitality is not always the first word that comes to mind when people think about the Christian church. And I think it should be. The early church in Acts 2 was breaking bread in their homes with glad and generous hearts every single day. The author of Hebrews tells us not to neglect showing hospitality to strangers. Paul in Romans 12 tells us to seek to show hospitality. And Jesus Himself, the night before the cross, gathered His disciples around a table.

There is power waiting for you at your table. But you have to be the one to set it.

In this episode I am sharing the biblical foundation for hospitality, my own story of learning to invite people into my mess instead of waiting for my house to be perfect, and a gentle rebuke for anyone who has been hiding behind baseboards and chimney sweeps.
