  • The Yes/No Game with ConTech in Practice: From Pilot Projects To Scaled Mass Production
    2026/08/19

Host Ole Berard with guests: Mikkel Printz, Jacob Guldbrandsen & Mayes Ali

LIVE from Copenhagen in association with BLOXHUB and the AEC Hackathon.

Robotics, AI, automation, digital twins and industrialised construction are advancing rapidly. Demonstrations are impressive, pilot projects are common and investment continues to grow.

Yet across the global construction industry, large-scale deployment on live projects remains limited.Improving productivity and delivery performance is critical to achieving both climate and economic objectives.

Construction technology has the potential to transform how projects are planned, built and operated — but only when it moves beyond innovation showcases and into everyday site workflows.

This session examines what it actually takes to move ConTech from pilots to production, focusing on:

    • Why many promising technologies struggle to scale beyond demonstration projects.
    • Procurement models, contractual risk allocation and project structures that either enable or block adoption.
    • The cultural and organisational barriers within contractors, clients and supply chains.
    • Standards, interoperability and data frameworks required for reliable integration on site.
    • What technology founders, contractors and asset owners must do differently to deliver measurable productivity gains.

The discussion moves beyond the technology itself to examine the system surrounding it.

The aim is practical clarity: how do we transition from isolated innovation to industry-wide implementation — delivering construction that is safer, faster and more predictable in real project environments?

Host Johnathan Munkley & Matthew Jackson with guest: Paul Drayton from Laing O'Rouke

Laing O'Rouke is one of the world's leading construction companies, who like everyone else is looking to increase productivity and quality of their projects to their clients. Paul Drayton (Head of Digital) tell us the story of turning their projects from traditional methods and processes into modern offsite, factory components when assembled on site.

This has been an interesting journey, one with both wins and losses. Paul gives us great insight into these learnings and where he sees the future of construction and the digital support needed to make it happen.

    Enjoy!

  • Green Buildings & Real Impact: Circularity & Bio-Based Materials in Practice
    2026/05/08
See all our content and events: Check out our LinkTreeHost Matthew Jackson with guests: Thomas Kveiborg, Oliver Hansen & Nikolaj Callisen FriisLIVE from Copenhagen in association with BLOXHUB and the AEC Hackathon.Bio-based materials are moving from niche innovation to mainstream application. Timber, hemp, straw, mycelium and waste-derived products are no longer experimental concepts — they are being deployed in housing, commercial and public buildings at scale. The question is no longer if they work, but how we implement them effectively, affordably and safely.Proven applications in housing and urban development.Standardisation, industrialisation and digital workflows that enable cost control and scalability.Collaboration models between public and private actors that accelerate adoption.Regulatory and insurance barriers — and what needs to change to unlock broader deployment.Ensuring durability, safety and long-term performance without compromising sustainability.Beyond material substitution, this discussion considers how bio-based construction can contribute to healthier buildings, local supply chains and more resilient communities. The aim is practical clarity: how do we move from pilot projects to market-wide transformation — delivering buildings that are not only green in principle, but impactful in measurable outcomes?Thank you to the event sponsors that make this weekend happen: Molio, RIB Software, Ramboll, Henning Larsson, PropTech DK, WeBuildDenmark.Enjoy! This is the ZERO Construct podcast, the podcast dedicated to bringing you insights and expertise from professionals around the world on how we can create a more future proof industry while reducing carbon in the built environment. Find out more about ZERO and join our community today. If you have any questions or are interesting in sponsoring the podcast then please contact podcasts [at] zeroconstruct.com.Artwork created using AI (poorly!)All comments on this podcast are personal and do not necessarily reflect those of the organisations they represent.
