Labour candidate for Waitākere, Vanushi Walters, says her door-knocking campaign has revealed a strong public desire for change.

Speaking to Radio Tarana host Sanjesh Narain, Walters said she was hearing widespread frustration with the government’s leadership.

“They came into government and said they would make it easier for New Zealanders, but things have gotten harder,” Walters said.

Green Party candidate Ricardo Menéndez March says voters are connecting with the Greens because the party is campaigning on issues that matter most to people.

Speaking to Radio Tarana host Sanjesh Narain, Menéndez March criticised the National Party’s social media campaign, saying its Instagram and Facebook pages focused more on attacking other political parties than promoting policy proposals.

“If you look at the National Party’s Instagram and Facebook pages, you will find that they are not campaigning on proposals. They are literally just running attacks on political parties,” Menéndez March said.

UnityFiji Party leader Savenaca Narube has raised concerns that the current coalition government is attempting to replace Fiji’s Constitution rather than amend it.

Speaking to Radio Tarana host Sanjesh Narain, Narube clarified that his party was not opposed to constitutional amendments, but disagreed with the process being followed. “It’s not that we don’t want to amend it. Get that right to our viewers. No, we are opposed to the process,” Narube said.

Narube also criticised the current coalition government, describing it as a “one-man show”.
