We all have opinions but it's more important to know what God thinks.

And we have our own but more importantly, we know the One who has all of the answers. And His opinion is really the only one that matters.

Each week Jay and Tom tackle life issues and provide Biblical answers that can strengthen your walk and your talk.

If you're a person of faith, they're here to encourage and equip you to "really believe what you say you believe is really real."

If you're not a person of faith, our podcast can provide some answers to questions you may have about why people of faith believe what they believe.

Jay Scribner was the lead pastor of Branson's First Baptist Church for over 25 years, ministered in many countries overseas, is author of the book "Jesus Follower: Beyond Belief, and heads the ministry Hope For America.

Tom Johnson is the worship minister at his fellowship, was in the entertainment business for over 30 years, and authors the daily blog "Derf Nerfel's Thought of the Day."

Together, they share from both life and ministry experience to bring encouragement and insight through this 30 minute weekly broadcast.

  • Single Mom - A mom's story of God's grace
    2026/10/23

Single moms need to hear hope from a single mother.

This mother of five children, one an infant, was suddenly thrown into one of the most devastating situations imaginable - alone, betrayed, abandoned, and half-way across the world from any home, family, or friends.

    Suddenly.

What do I do? What's my first step? How do I survive this traumatic upheaval? What is the next step?

Mindy Watkins, missionary to Pakistan who was featured earlier in our podcasts, has been through some of the most darkest moments in life imaginable.

As she opens her heart, she unfolds her story of finding true refuge in Jesus as well as the practical steps of taking on the role as a single mom. As she says, "Difficult is okay. Not fun. Not fair. But God will become more real to you than ever before through it all."

And for those who come in contact with single moms, she shares how churches and individuals can make a huge difference in their lives. "Religion that is pure...is to visit orphans and widows in their affliction."

  • Small Group Accountability - Rebirth of the Sunday School
    2026/10/16

It's one thing to hear a weekly sermon but quite another to actually study the Word.

Thought it still happens at some fellowships, the traditional Sunday School class education has become a thing of the past. Too many people are just attending the worship service and that's the extent of their connection with the Body.

However, the functioning of a vibrant, growing fellowship, whether it's a group of dozens or a mega-church of tens of thousands, depends upon relationships that go beyond sitting and staring at the back of the person sitting in the chair in front of you.

Thus, Small Group Accountability. Just like Jethro told Moses to appoint people to lead thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens, God is raising up leaders within the Body to minister to the individuals and not just the masses. We need to equip and sharpen each other as we grow in Christ.

Today, we discuss the benefits of building the Body via the connection of both Sunday morning and weekday small group ministry times.

Personal, specific, and committed relationships will maintain the solid foundation so that the size of the fellowship doesn't matter: Tens, hundreds, or thousands.

Welcome to the Small Group Accountability explosion!
