What do people really say about you when you're not in the room?

I've been thinking a lot about reputation recently, and not just the kind we build through personal branding, visibility, beautiful websites or impressive business achievements.

I'm talking about the reputation we earn through how we behave, how we treat people and what happens when things don't go according to plan.

A recent experience has made me think deeply about professional integrity, trust and the difference between somebody who looks incredibly successful and somebody you can genuinely trust to do business with.

And it's brought me back to something I've always believed. You can build a profitable, successful business without compromising your values or forgetting about the people who helped you build it.

In this episode, I'm sharing why professional integrity matters so much to me, why I've deliberately chosen to build a boutique, high-touch publishing business rather than a publishing machine, and why I believe the relationships we create with our customers are some of the most valuable assets we'll ever have.

We also talk about intuition, the importance of allowing people to see the real journey behind your business, and why your reputation is built through so much more than what you choose to share online.

Because being visible might get you noticed, but being somebody people trust, respect and genuinely want to recommend? That's what creates lasting opportunities.

And perhaps the most important question we can ask ourselves is this:

Are we building businesses that simply look successful, or businesses we're genuinely proud to have our names attached to?
