David had wealth, a throne, and hard-won victories, yet he traced his joy to none of them—he pointed straight to God's presence, where Psalm 16:11 promises "fullness of joy." That word "fullness" matters: this is not a mood that fades by nightfall but a complete, overflowing gladness the world simply cannot counterfeit. Scripture backs this up when Nehemiah 8:10 calls the joy of the Lord our strength, and Galatians 5:22 names joy as fruit the Spirit grows in us—proof it is received, not earned. So ask yourself honestly: are you grasping at happiness that expires, or drawing near to the only source of pleasure that lasts forevermore?
