In the quiet spaces where dreams were once loud, a younger self crafted a future—a future of imagined places, voices, and faces. Years passed in pursuit, each decision a whispered promise to a version not yet real. The imagined self, the one who would have it all figured out, who would find peace, lingered just out of reach.
Life’s twists and turns—the unexpected layoff, the phone call that altered everything—shifted the landscape. The dream didn’t just fade; it left an absence, a silent mourning for what might have been. There is no ceremony for the life unlived, no words to comfort the loss of possibilities. In quiet moments, you find yourself tracing paths of what-ifs, remembering dreams that now feel like distant echoes.
Yet through the haze of what was never to be, there is a resilience. The younger self, wide-eyed and hopeful, might see strength in survival. And perhaps, amidst the subdued hopes, there is solace in the simple act of continuing, in the gentle persistence of being here, still.
