  • Brewers Are Champions as McDavid & Jokic Make History
    2026/10/29

Yesterday in Sports recaps a championship night and a packed Wednesday across MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, soccer and boxing, beginning with Milwaukee finally reaching the top of baseball.

Chris Horwedel breaks down the Brewers’ 4-1 win over Tampa Bay in Game 5, clinching the first World Series championship in franchise history. Jacob Misiorowski delivers a dominant start, rookie Cooper Pratt makes World Series history and William Contreras earns MVP honors as Milwaukee completes an 11-2 postseason run.

The NFL brings another major Indianapolis sell-off, with the 49ers acquiring DeForest Buckner only a day after the Colts sent Quenton Nelson to Seattle. Josh Downs reportedly requests a trade, while Kansas City adds Justin Tucker to its practice squad and creates a potential kicking competition with Harrison Butker.

In the NBA, Nikola Jokić records the 200th triple-double of his career, putting Russell Westbrook’s all-time record within reach. Dallas hands Oklahoma City its first loss, Houston becomes the league’s first 5-0 team, Stephen Curry scores 44 and AJ Dybantsa makes his delayed NBA debut.

Connor McDavid makes NHL history by recording an assist in his 13th consecutive game to begin the season, breaking a record he previously shared with Wayne Gretzky and others. Seattle, Washington and Colorado also pick up notable wins.

The show closes with Liverpool and Manchester City surviving League Cup shootouts, a reported long-term Christian Pulisic extension with AC Milan, and boxing legend Amanda Serrano announcing that her January title defense in Puerto Rico will be the final fight of her career.

  • Rays Survive, Quenton Nelson Traded, Fleetwood Town Advance
    2026/10/28

Yesterday in Sports recaps a dramatic Tuesday across the World Series, NFL, NBA, NHL, English soccer and tennis, beginning with Tampa Bay extending the Fall Classic in extra innings.

Chris Horwedel breaks down the Rays’ 12-inning win over Milwaukee in Game 4, which prevented a World Series sweep and cut the Brewers’ series lead to 3-1. Milwaukee came within three outs of its first championship before Tampa Bay rallied in the bottom of the 12th and forced another game.

The biggest NFL move comes from Seattle, where the Seahawks acquire eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson from Indianapolis for two draft picks. The win-now trade strengthens a Seattle team coming off a dominant victory over Kansas City, while the rebuilding Colts turn an expiring contract into future assets.

In the NBA, Jayson Tatum scores 40 and beats Brooklyn at the overtime buzzer, while Victor Wembanyama helps San Antonio roll, Luka Dončić scores 41 in a Lakers loss and New York avoids an 0-4 start. Minnesota also receives potentially major news with reports that Anthony Edwards could miss up to two months following knee surgery.

The NHL delivers one of the season’s wildest comebacks as Vancouver erases a three-goal deficit late and beats Anaheim in overtime, ending a 10-game losing streak. Connor Hellebuyck also wins his New Jersey debut following his blockbuster trade from Winnipeg.

In England, fourth-tier Fleetwood Town eliminates Premier League champion Arsenal from the League Cup, while pressure continues to build around Manchester United manager Michael Carrick. The episode closes with tennis history as three-time major champion Stan Wawrinka retires at age 41 after a 24-year professional career.

  • Brewers Near Title as Eagles Lose Fifth Straight
    2026/10/27

Yesterday in Sports recaps a huge Monday across the World Series, WNBA Finals, NFL, NBA, NHL and soccer, beginning with Milwaukee moving within one victory of the first World Series championship in franchise history.

Chris Horwedel breaks down the Brewers’ 10-1 destruction of Tampa Bay in Game 3, highlighted by Jackson Chourio’s four-hit night, an historic eight-run fifth inning and another dominant postseason performance from Milwaukee. The Brewers now lead the World Series 3-0 and have four opportunities to finish the job.

The Golden State Valkyries are also one win from a championship, taking a 3-2 WNBA Finals lead over Atlanta behind a suffocating defensive performance. Meanwhile, Philadelphia’s NFL season continues to unravel as Dallas beats the Eagles 38-21, extending their losing streak to five games despite Tanner McKee taking over for the injured Jalen Hurts.

Around the NBA, Anthony Edwards scores 47 in Minnesota’s first loss, Stephen Curry delivers a perfect shooting night and Houston and Memphis remain unbeaten. Oklahoma City also receives devastating injury news, with Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace both requiring surgery and potentially facing season-ending absences.

The NHL features rookie Michal Postava winning his first start against Edmonton, while the Rangers’ goaltending crisis worsens following Igor Shesterkin’s season-ending injury.

The show closes with soccer history as Harry Kane wins his first Ballon d’Or, becoming the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001, while Alexia Putellas captures the women’s award for a third time.
