  • Kiwi jr. on new album Blowin' Up - CIUT FM interview
    2026/10/15

On last week's CIUT show, I caught up with Jeremy Gaudet, singer and guitarist in Toronto based indie rock band Kiwi jr.! One of my favourite guests that I've been having on CFRC since 2022, Kiwi jr. have been on a steady rise up. Now on their fourth album, Blowin' Up, Jeremy phoned in to chat about the new album's complex and darker tone, channelling a rock n' roll spirit through Joe Perry of Aerosmith's guitar, working with Protomartyr, and the rich lives of the kiwi cast of lyrical characters. Catch them on tour sometime, they just finished a Toronto date that we talked about on air, and will be hitting up Europe and parts of the US soon, dates on their website here.

Cover image: Kiwi jr. live at The Grad Club (RIP) in Kingston, January 2023.

Want more Kiwi? I interviewed Jeremy when the band's third album Chopper landed in 2022. Listen here.

  • Sundayclub interview!
    2026/10/10

Winnipeg shoegaze band sundayclub are a product of their hometown. Hailing from Winnipeg's small but thriving alternative scene, the band have been making a name for themselves with a heartfelt debut album, their self-titled, out on Paper Bag Records, and the album could only have been a product of their exact circumstances: songs like 'Sad Summer' explore depression during the warm summers, in one of the coldest cities on earth. Elsewhere, the band process relationships and more in thoughtful lyrics.

We caught up with Courtney Carmichael and Nikki St. Pierre, the driving musical force behind sundayclub, just after their set at Loveless Festival in Toronto, where they dazzled the crowd playing to the haunting yet beautiful and strangely fitting backdrop of stained glass paintings and a giant organ in the church at St. Stephen's In The Fields. Tune in to hear us talk about the album's themes of memory, the Winnipeg music community, playing Europe and much more.
