🎙 EPISODE 42C: AFTER PRAYER
Would the Holy Spirit Talk to Me Like That?
Testing the Voices You Listen To
A thought enters your mind:
“God is disappointed in you.”
“You’ve messed up too many times.”
“If you were really a Christian, you wouldn’t struggle like this.”
But here’s the question…
Would the Holy Spirit actually talk to you like that?
Not every thought deserves your agreement—and not every spiritual-sounding thought comes from God.
In this After Prayer companion to Episode 42, Kara and Misty continue the conversation about conviction, condemnation, and learning to recognize the voice of the Good Shepherd.
We’re getting practical about how to test what you’re hearing.
✨ Does it agree with Scripture?
✨ Does it sound like the character of Jesus?
✨ Is it specific conviction—or vague accusation?
✨ Does it lead you toward repentance and restoration—or shame and hopelessness?
✨ Are you hearing God's truth… or your own fear, insecurity, past wounds, or the lies of the enemy?
The Holy Spirit will correct you.
He may reveal sin.
He may challenge you.
He may tell you something needs to change.
But He doesn't have to destroy your identity to correct your behavior.
Conviction says: “This needs to change. Come to Me.”
Condemnation says: “You'll never change. Stay away.”
There is a difference.
And the more you know God's Word, the easier it becomes to recognize when something doesn't sound like your Shepherd.
📖 Key Scriptures (KJV):
John 10:27 • 1 John 4:1 • Romans 8:1 • John 16:13 • Philippians 4:8
❤️ Your challenge:
The next time a condemning thought enters your mind, don't automatically agree with it.
Stop.
Test it against Scripture.
And ask:
“Would the Holy Spirit talk to me like that?”
You don't have to believe every voice competing for your attention.
Learn the Shepherd's voice. Know His Word. Test everything. Follow Him.
🙏 God loves you.
❤️ We love you.
