Worth Carrying is about the conversations, knowledge, and experiences valuable enough to take with you into real life.

We talk about what shapes how we live, provide for our families, build our communities, and prepare for the future: food security, self-reliance, money, business, family, culture, and personal growth. We also tackle the conversations people tend to avoid.

Expect critical thinking, challenged assumptions, practical knowledge, and real experiences. You won't always agree, and that's okay. The goal isn't to tell you what to think. It's to spark deeper thought, better questions, and action.

When the episode ends, one question remains: did you hear something worth carrying with you?

  • Who Controls Our Food? | Fabian Bradford of G-Line Ranch on Food Security, Land & Legacy
    2026/10/04

What happens when a community loses its connection to the people who actually produce its food?

In this episode of Worth Carrying, I sit down with Fabian Bradford of G-Line Ranch, a fourth-generation Black ranching family in Oklahoma, for a conversation about food security, sustainability, land, ownership, and the future of food in Black America.

Fabian reached out after seeing one of my videos about food security, and I knew we needed to have this conversation.

We talk about what food security looks like from the perspective of someone who actually comes from a food-producing family. We explore the difference between simply buying food and having a relationship with the people who grow and raise it—and why depending entirely on grocery-store shelves may leave our communities more vulnerable than we realize.

But this conversation goes deeper than preparing for shortages.

We talk about Black land ownership, generational knowledge, ranching, the economics of farming, supporting local producers, and what it would take for African American families to become more connected to the production and ownership side of our food system.

Fabian also shares what it means to carry forward the legacy of G-Line Ranch while becoming part of a new generation using content and social media to tell the story of Black agriculture.

    This isn't about fear.

It's about relationships, ownership, preparation, and responsibility.

Because food security isn't simply about having enough food today.

It's about asking a much bigger question:

Who will we depend on to feed us tomorrow?

  • We’ve Been Distracted: It’s Time to Secure Our Own Food
    2026/09/28

We can debate relationships, politics, culture, sports, celebrities, and everything happening on social media—but how much time are we spending thinking about something much more basic:

How will we feed ourselves and our families if the systems we depend on stop working the way we expect?

In the first episode of Worth Carrying, Larry challenges us to rethink food security, self-reliance, and just how dependent we've become on systems outside of our control.

After moving away from Atlanta, Larry felt compelled to learn how to grow and produce food for himself. That experience changed the way he looked at preparedness—and made him question how much of our attention is consumed by things that may not actually matter when life gets difficult.

This conversation explores growing food, preserving it, fishing, hunting, raising animals, processing meat, supporting local farmers, building community, and developing practical skills before they're urgently needed.

Supporting farmers matters. Buying local matters. Building relationships with the people who produce our food matters.

But this episode asks a bigger question:

Is buying food from someone else the same thing as being food secure?

This isn't about fear, and it isn't about having everything figured out.

It's about getting out of paralysis by analysis and beginning to develop the knowledge, relationships, resources, and practical skills that can make individuals, families, and communities more resilient.

Because some things deserve more than our attention.

Some knowledge deserves to be preserved.
Some skills deserve to be passed down.
    Some conversations deserve to continue.

    Some things are Worth Carrying.
